Overview
Charlie LaVoy is a director, animator, motion designer, and illustrator with 18 years of storytelling behind him: animated shorts, documentary motion design, children's books, concept art, and commercial illustration.
Challenge
Charlie's work spans a lot of disciplines. The site had to hold all of it without flattening it into a generic grid, and it had to feel like his hand made it.
Approach
There's no generated imagery anywhere. The home page is his own cherry-blossom painting, brought to life in WebGL. Nine project pages, a résumé page with a career timeline and a one-page PDF, and a testimonials section read aloud by his clockwork automaton.
Outcome
Every pixel of art on the site is Charlie's. The code only moves it.
